If you’re a beginner in scrapbooking, journaling, or any of the sort, I recommend going to my first blog

3 Things to Know Before You Start Scrapbooking

But if you’re here to scout some fun ideas, here are some for you

I get it, you are running out of ideas and doodles to decorate your books with, same old doodle and same old sticker isn’t going to cut it anymore, we need a page dedicated to something to get the spark of creativity going, and here are some recommendations

1. Favourite Meals or Snack

Everyone has that one meal or snack they always go back to, something you crave randomly on a Tuesday or just end up eating without thinking, and honestly, that alone is worth making a page about because food preferences change over time, and scrapbooks are meant to capture who you are right now, not who you were or who you’re trying to be. You can draw it if you want, even if it looks messy, use a pen or acrylic marker or just sketch something simple, and if drawing isn’t really your thing then printing it out with a mini printer makes everything easier and a lot more fun, and I’ll link the kind most people use because it’s one of those things you don’t think you need until you actually have it. Or, if your snack comes with packaging, you can just keep it the next time you eat it and glue it straight into your page, then build around it with doodles, stickers, or anything else that fits the vibe.

  • Acrylic marker
  • Pen
  • Glue tape

2. Best friend page

I have done this with my scrapbooks, and I loved it so much that I made my friend each a page dedicated to them (there are 8 of them). Anything that reminds me of them I will put in my scrapbook, or any favourite snack they like to eat, or better yet, just print out their funny faces. Back when I made mine, I used coloured themed stickers and washi-tapes of their favourite colour, or a colour I designated to them

  • Glue tape
  • Washi tape

3. Lyrics that resonate

You will listen to new music eventually, and whether or not you add a new song or a playlist, or just make a whole new one, it would be fun to draw or print out a link to your playlist. YouTube or Spotify link that can be drawn onto your pages. And if you’re not willing to do that, you can always just write down the different songs you’ve been obsessing over + their artist, and list them down with “faves of the year”. With coloured paper or just ripped lined paper. I’ll show you my examples

  • Glue tape
  • Letter to my future self
  • Acrylic marker
  • Pen
  • Small ring notebooks that have different types of paper

4. Letter to my future self

In 5 years or 10 years, you might want to know what your old self thinks about you, and you’d wish you could look at and talk to her, but the closest thing to that is a letter to your future self. You can put just about anything inside the envelope, maybe some stickers, maybe a memory drawing, or anything that you want to give your future self, or just something of the moment that just screams present you. You can obviously write as many letters as you want, but I recommend sectioning each envelope by year, so you get a fun surprise each year. Also, while you’re writing, don’t forget to include some words of encouragement for your future self; she might need them. If you’re going to write a letter, you would obviously need an envelope, or you can make an envelope. Here’s a link to a bunch of coloured envelopes, and if you’re in the mood to make them yourself, here’s a bunch of coloured papers. To make the feeling more everlasting, you can seal the envelope with a wax seal or just a wax seal sticker.

  • coloured envelopes
  • coloured a4 papers
  • wax seal
  • wax seal sticker
  • glue tape
  • pen

5. A page dedicated to yourself

You’re documenting your life, but sometimes you forget to include yourself in it.

Print a photo of yourself or take one just for this page. It doesn’t have to be perfect. A photobooth works too if you want something quick and cheap. Then just build around it, like for example, you can put your name, the year, your current interests, things you’re into right now. And if those things change, you can always come back and add more later.

  • Mini printer + printer paper
  • Glue tape

There are infinite ideas to style your scrapbook, so stay tuned
